Tie dye crafts give out the groovy effect both teens and adults love. The design never goes out style and is very easy to do.
The concept is very simple. It’s basically tying, to do the designs, and soaking with dye. You can make tie dye shirts, curtains, hanky, etc.
For your first work, you need to prepare T-shirts made of cotton. The shirts should not have finishes on it. Wash the shirts. You’ll need them damp when you do your tie dye crafts. For the rest of the materials, check out the following list:
a. Cold Water Tie Dye with different colorsb. Waterc. ¾ cup of saltd. Rubber glovese. Sealable plastic bagsf. Two bucketsg. Bottles with squirt-type toph. Large Rubber bandsi. Funnelj. Lots of newspapersk. Old trays or pans to work on
These are the simple steps that you need to do to do your tie dye crafts.
1. Cover the work area with newspaper. This is to avoid any damage caused by the dye.
2. In a container, mix 1½ cups of warm water to a pack of dye mix. Dissolve the dye completely and pour each color into separate bottles with squirt-type top.
3. Prepare a large bucket. Put in 3/4 cups of salt, 6 cups hot water and 3 packages of Cold Water Dye. Stir well to dissolve the dye completely. This is your fixer solution.
4. Create patterns by tying rubber bands on the shirt. Tie the rubber bands evenly on the shirt to avoid messing up the design.
5. Put on the gloves and soak the shirts in your fixer solution for 5 minutes. Gently squeeze the excess water.
6. With the shirt still damp (not soaking), lay it on a tray. Apply colors from the bottles with squirt-type top to add more design. Remember to make the colors even on both sides of the shirt.
7. When you are already satisfied with the design, put the shirt is a sealable plastic bag and let it set for 24 hours.
8. Rinse the shirt before untying the rubber bands. Then, soak the shirt in pan with hot soapy water for ten minutes. Rinse thoroughly and let it dry.
